Staines - A Gentle Riverside Walk

 by Jeannette Briggs

  The Thames Walk

Alongside Westbrook Road

Round the back of the town centre and Market Square is the Thames Path, which is so unassuming that you will probably come upon it quite by chance. . However, it is worth discovering and you will eventually come across a very pretty Thames scene, decorated as it is with elegant bridges and several swans drifting down the river. Weeping willows and assorted shrubbery overhang the river, whilst smart countrified houses and colourful boats moored on the banks create an ever favourable impression. There is the usual riverside pub for you to drop into. This slightly surprising, isolated piece of charm in Staines is unexpected but very welcome and best enjoyed on a fine summer's day.
