In the last 25 years this web-site has covered the subjects of floods,foot and mouth, covid and Royal celebrations and a coronation. The least pleasant is that of the current water quality of the river Thames.
Early in 2001 we were receieving emails about how good the river was compared to other countries and of course, the bad old days when someone who fell in it was usually taken straight to A and E. So, how did Thames Water get to be allowed so many discharges of untreated sewage into our river? And should the consumer really have to foot the bill when shareholders have done so very nicely from the firm?©The River Thames Guide 1999 - 2024
